Several months ago I signed on with RedGage and truth be told it was because so many people I knew from Squidoo were on there showcasing their content AND earning money. A great combination, don’t you think?

Today it’s about more, RedGage really does rock!

This I know:

There is nothing more mouth-watering then Fried Green Tomatoes! If you haven’t tried em’ you just have to…seriously. If you know what I’m talkin’ about then there is not much more explainin’ other than the recipe name and mouth-watering put together to get the pan heated up and ready to fry up these Southern family faves!

Interesting discovery tonight, hidden deep in the recipe archives of Squidoo. Who knows what made me type in Fried Green Tomatoes in the search box to find this beauty – it’s probably the wee hour and not being able to sleep. Anywho enough about me, promise you’ll appreciate what lensmaster xiaohuaz offers up on her lens Green Fried Tomatoes. This lens serves up the recipe, a few other tidbits and that’s ’bout it. Who needs all the other fluff – the showcase is the Fried Green Tomahtoy’s already…right?

Enjoy every juicy, tart, salty, yummy bite of this comfort food ;)

Is That Really You Honey?
Correen (clouda9) | January 28, 2010 | 6:59 pm | Opinions | No comments

Are you a honey?

Squid Report

Attraction comes in many colors, shapes, even sizes. When it comes to the Internet you’ve got to prove yourself even more…however – that’s three dots and a long pause by the way – drawing them in with your wily words without real helping, beneficial information is, well…devious.

If you are a sneaky devil or spammer you’ll wear the big “D” with pride – hit and move on! The others with real honey will…over time and with experience…thrive and survive. Thrive and survive to be good ‘online citizens’! I’m a real honey…you??

The Saints Are Heading to the Super Bowl!

This really is a shout out for firsts too!

  • Your first baby steps
  • Your first car
  • Your first kiss

Now the first time in NFL History the New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl! As much as Mark and I love our Giants the game today won by the Saints – a history making game – is exciting on so many levels. A real shot in the arm for the people of New Orleans! Right on!

Did You Know – Keeping Your HTML Handy
Correen (clouda9) | January 23, 2010 | 3:36 pm | Did You Know Series | 8 Comments

While I’m working on lenses there is nothing more time consuming or aggrevating  then searching around for or typing in over and over again HTML that could just as easily be copied and pasted, making the lens building quicker and more time efficient. For months now I have been building a Notepad full of the commonly used HTML that I use in my lenses. I’ll share a few of my faves here for you to copy and paste – get your Squidoo Notepad reference started today!

MEDIUM FONT:  <p style=”font-size: medium;”> – Change “medium” to a fixed size like x-small, large, etc or to a pixel size

LINK: <a href=”your link here” rel=”nofollow” title=”describe your link” target=”_blank”>Link name</a> – This will open your link in a new window, when someone scrolls over the link it explains the link, place the nofollow for affiliate links. Example: Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML

PICTURE ALIGN RIGHT: <img style=”float:right; margin-left: 30px;” src=”picture URL”> – Aligns your photo to the right, text to the left

PICTURE ALIGN LEFT: <img style=”float:left; margin-right: 30px;” src=”picture URL”> – Aligns your photo to the left, text the the right

X-SMALL TEXT TO RIGHT:  <p strong style=”font-size: x-small; font-weight: normal;” align=”right”>text or  link name. Close with </p> or </a></p> if using a LINK. This is great for Wikipedia articles  because the Squidoo module does not let you edit the text and it returns with weird characters most of the time.

REFERRAL LINK: <a href=”http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/your lensmaster name” target=”_blank”>Join me on Squidoo or your own words</a> – Earn by referring people to Squidoo.

BORDER: <p style=”padding: 5px; background-color: #E1E8F2; border: dotted 2px #00518A; font-size: medium;”> – Lots of ways to switch this up, get some HTML knowledge under your belt and play…have fun with this ;)

FEATURED LENS MODULE or LENSMASTER:  <p style=”font-size: 11px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 6px;”><a href=”http://www.squidoo.com/url-of-lens” target=”_blank” style=”font-weight: bold; font-size: 12px; display: block; padding: 0px; clear: both;”><img src=”url-of-lens-graphic.jpg” width=”60″ align=”left” style=”margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 6px;”>[Lens Title]</a> [3-4 line excerpt/description goes here...] – The Featured Lens or Lensmaster does not allow you the versatility of using this code. Use it in a text module and as you get more comfortable with using HTML on Squidoo this code can be tweaked too.  (Reference lens and more info: http://www.squidoo.com/featured-lenses-module)

Find more HTML and CSS help on Squidoo’s Answer Deck. Now it’s your turn to share a tip or two for all of us to benefit from…thanks!

Meet Squidoo Angel – Kharadriisa
Correen (clouda9) | January 12, 2010 | 12:55 pm | Interviews, Lensmasters | 2 Comments

At the end of 2009 I had the pleasure of virtually meeting Heather (Kharadriisa) when she made a goodwill lens with my Zazzle products. Just recently I was thrilled to find out that she is now a Squidoo Angel…this is our interview.

1. When you got your Squidoo angel wings what is the “one word” that best describes how you felt? – Excited was the one word that I felt. I didn’t think I would even make the team, but I tried anyway. Plus I learned that I made Giant just a few days after. I was like a kid in a candy store.

2. What color is your angel dust? Why? – I would have to say they are Black and Red. Those two colors are my favorites. I’m a little goth and that’s how I envision my angel wings.

3. You are a young mom with two little kids, how do you balance life and Squidooing? – Well I was balancing Squidoo time with the time that my kids spent in school. Right now they’ve been out for 3 whole weeks cause of the holidays and now the snow. I do have extra time to spend on my parents laptop while my kids are downstairs with me and playing their video games. Yes I indulge them, but it’s a Wii and they are very active while playing.

4. You’re a very giving person, I know that first hand, who inspired you the most in your life to be who you are today? – Well I use to be a couponer and I’ve always wanted to have enough to give out. I wasn’t a great couponer so I didn’t have a ton, but I managed to give to family. So I would have to say the couponing community because there was a lot of them that gave to food pantries and those in need.

5. So about your love of vampires – would you want to be biten or just loved by a vampire? – Who would want to settle with just one of those? I’ve been into vampires since I was in kindergarten. I’m working on writing a feature length spec script whenever I have the time. It’s been a very long work in progress and Squidoo is taking away from that time, but I’m having fun doing it.

Thank you Heather~ ~Correen

Likaholix to MyLikes – An Interview With Bindu
Correen (clouda9) | January 10, 2010 | 11:10 pm | Social Networking | 8 Comments

Earlier this year I joined Likaholix, in fact I even posted about it here on Squid Report. Let me find the link…oh here :) Well things are a-changin’, Likaholix is now MyLikes and I’ve got the inside scoop from owner Bindu Reddy…read on.

Noticed changes and jumped in to add my two cents for one of the advertisers, Prost Productions. I’ve already made twenty cents with a couple of Twitter posts, plus I received a really nice comment back from them…Yea! The switch up seems promising and really friendly for those of us working to add quality content to the site.  I’ll carry on with today’s interview, I think Bindu gives us great insight. See ya on MyLikes.

Bindu Reddy, owner of MyLikes1. Your site has recently changed from Likaholix to My Likes. Can you tell us a little bit about the benefits of this transition?

Likaholix was a consumer product that allowed users to share their Likes. MyLikes is a word of mouth advertising platform that allows influencers on the web to make money or donate it to charity. With MyLikes influencers can find and recommend the advertisers they like to their audience. Every time someone clicks on their Sponsored Like, they make anywhere from $0.20 to $1.00 / click.

2. What is your favorite topic on My Likes? Why?

My personal favorite is TV shows. I have discovered many new TV shows and enjoyed them after seeing Likes for them on MyLikes. Chuck, Castle and Gossip Girl are just a few of the TV shows I have started following after seeing sponsored LIkes on MyLikes.

3. If someone were to take three steps to success on My Likes what would they be?

- Create likes for products / services you genuinely like and want to recommend to your audience. Write detailed comments about why you like a particular product / service.

- Write sponsored posts for your Like on your blog / website in addition to posting it on Twitter.

- Link to their MyLikes profile pages from their website. Remember you can make money even when someone clicks on your profile on MyLikes.

4. Who is the one person in your life that inspires you the most and why?

Steve Jobs, because of his passion and attention to every single detail when building a product.

5. Please give us ‘the skinny’ on upcoming updates for My Likes – us Squidooer’s like to be in the know.

We are making multiple changes to the platform and soon hope to have:
- Many more name brand advertisers
- A better re-designed user interface that is more intuitive

Is there anything additional that you would like to add to clarify things for users of MyLikes?

- Clicks from your MyLikes page to the advertiser pages will be credited to you. So creating a good MyLikes page and promoting it on the web should help members make money.

Ready to join me on MyLikes?
